Jenna and I lived on opposite sides of the country, but we were destined to meet. It was the summer of 2017. I happened to be visiting Muskoka for a friend’s wedding, she was in the area at a cottage with friends, and we had both swiped right on Tinder. Sparks flew and the rest, as they say, is history. Jenna travelled to Vancouver a few times for work and I flew back to visit my family and her over the holidays. By the following spring, Jenna made the big move to the West Coast and we’ve been inseparable ever since!
Finding the perfect spot to propose.
Sunwolf in Squamish is a very special place. The riverside resort feels wild and remote with rustic cabins nestled among the trees, yet it is just a short drive from Vancouver. Given that we both love the outdoors and exploring new places together – and neither one of us had been to the resort before – I thought it would be a great place to start our life journey together.
The plan was to spend several days relaxing and exploring the surrounding area. On the second day while walking alongside the river I set up my phone to take a photo of the two of us. Unbeknownst to Jenna, I set the camera to video forever capturing the moment I proposed – giving us both a treasured memory to share with family and friends.
Designing the ring was an incredible experience.
I knew I could get a ring anywhere but felt it was important to really connect with the person designing it. A friend of mine who had recently married referred me to Jason at Palladio. He had nothing but good things to say about him and the process. From our first meeting, I knew it was going to be a great fit. Jason was low pressure, funny and very knowledgeable; I felt like I was in great hands. He also shared his proposal experience and encouraged me to just enjoy the moment when it happened. I’m so grateful to have had him involved in this process.
