The Atelier — since 1998

Commission drawn here. Made here. Signed here.

There are three rooms of jewellery in the cabinet — signed ready-to-wear, high jewellery in small editions, and custom drawn for one person. The atelier is the bench they all pass through.

Four steps, in the same order, every time. The work does not shorten for smaller pieces and does not lengthen for larger ones.

The four orders · in brief

From a conversation, to a signature.

A commission travels four stations in the same sequence every time: the front table, the drafting board, the bench, the engraver's block.

For the long version — with bench scenes, materials shelf and workshop notes — step into custom.

conversation
Stage i.

The conversation

An hour at the table. We listen first. 60–90 min in the showroom.

drawing
Stage ii.

The drawing

Hand sketches, then technical drawings. Stones presented loose. 2–3 weeks.

making
Stage iii.

The making

Wax, metal, setting, finishing. 6–12 weeks, in our own atelier.

signing
Stage iv.

The signing

An engraving inside the band. Initials, date, coordinate, phrase. By hand.

Materials currently on the bench

A curated library of materials, chosen with intent.

At Palladio, every piece begins with a carefully selected foundation. Our working collection—a living library of what we're actively crafting—includes ethically sourced precious metals, natural gemstones with clear provenance, and hand-assembled pearls, each chosen for quality, traceability, and suitability.

For materials beyond this collection, such as old mine diamonds, untreated Burmese rubies, or fine Australian opal, we offer bespoke sourcing on request, guiding you through each stone's characteristics, availability, and suitability for your design.

Diamond

Brilliant · 0.30 — 4.10 ct
Old-cut preferred. We will source GIA brilliant on request and recommend antique stones over modern where the brief allows.

Emerald

Colombian · traceable
Bought directly from two cutters we have known for fifteen years. Recutting is part of the service, not a separate quote.

Sapphire

Ceylon · Montana
Untreated stock available. Cornflower and steel-blue Ceylons are our most-recommended; Montana for the client who wants a quieter blue.

Ruby

Burmese · on request
We do not carry treated material. Untreated Burmese stones in commercial sizes are difficult to source; expect three to nine months.

Opal

Australian · cabochon
Each stone is the only one. We recommend opal for bezel settings and pieces that will be worn often enough to learn the shift in its colour.

Pearl

South Sea · Akoya
Strung on linen, knotted between, by hand, in-house. Restringing is offered free for any necklace we sold, for life.

18k Yellow

Milled in-house · 75% Au
Our default for warmer skin and for pieces that will live near older yellow gold in the same jewellery box.

18k Rose

5.5% copper · soft tone
Softens on the wrist over years. Recommended where a piece will be worn daily and is expected to acquire its own patina.

Platinum 950

Heavier · harder · cool
Our default for engagement work and for diamond settings that need to hold for fifty years without loosening.

Aquamarine

Brazilian · large carats
Strong in larger sizes. We are happy to set a single 8–15ct stone if the design earns it and the wearer earns it back.

Most pieces we make begin as an hour at the front table. Coffee or whisky. No file is opened until you ask us to open one.
